szabmuISLAMABAD: Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) in collaboration with Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Wednesday launched a digital library at PIMS.

Capital Administration and Development Division (CAAD) Minister Usman Ibrahim inaugurated the digital library. A large number of the students of Federal Medical and Dental College (FMDC) participated in the inauguration ceremony. They were very happy on this latest development which would help them in future.

A student of the FMDC Muhammad Rehan, while talking to Daily Times, said, “We all are very happy on this effort.” He said that through this library the students would get the chance of studying books, journals and articles even sitting at the more comfortable palaces where they would like. “Earlier, the students of the medical were compelled to move abroad for the modern research work which is the most significant part of study. But now we will be able to benefit from the opportunity at our doorstep,” he added.

Replying to a question, he claimed that it was all about the utmost efforts of VC by which the FMDC has been listed in the category ‘A’ of the Federal Medical and Dental Council.

Another medical student, Rukayya Arshad said that the launch of the digital library is the symbol of the most latest education system of the world, which would benefit a large number of the students.

“As for as our future was concerned, the accreditation by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, we were feared about our lingered future but after the reorganization in the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council chart, we get the sign of relief,” she maintained.

Earlier, Usman Ibrahim appreciated the endeavour of the university management in establishment of the digital library. “It was the need of hour that will be instrumental not only for the medical faculty but also for medical students. This will ultimately improve our health care system in country,” the minister added.

He reiterated that present government is striving hard in all sectors, especially education, health were particular focused by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The minister applauded the PIMS, as it running various centres with in hospital including liver transplants, cardiac centers children hospital burn centre to name a few.

Capital Administration and Development Division minister stressed the students to get maximum benefit from the library and contribute effectively in the development of the country.

In his welcoming remarks, Vice Chancellor Javed Akram said that thousands of the students would get benefit though e-library. To recalling his time of resuming charge, Akram revealed that on that time there was discontentment and discomforts. “They were frustrated about theirs hangs in balanced future, but I assured them for keeping reserve their career.”

The vice chancellor also requested the students for helping poor patients in the future by curing them well. “Be good human besides a good doctor, a human who could serve the nation even his/her own live go on stake,” the minister advised the students.
