unnamed (1)Islamabad 17 August, 2015) The COMSATS forty non-teaching staff members delegation visited National Book Foundation (NBF) as study tour. The members of COMSATS were availed this novel opportunity to know about the in-depth program of National Book foundation as promotor of book culture and disseminator of literacy and knowledge among the people far and wide in the county. Mostly COMSATS non-teaching staff members come in NBF Head Office, Islamabad from Lahore and Abbottabad especially to see the function and role of this organization in creating book reading habits among the youth, kids and old age people.

At this auspicious occasion, the Managing Director NBF, Prof. Dr. Inam ul Haq Javeid addressed the delegation. He highlighted the achievements of the Foundation particularly in the last year in his tenure. “Readers Club Scheme started in last year, got very positive response from the book-lovers”, he expressed. He said that during last year, in twenty three outlets throughout Pakistan, NBF received close attention of Pakistanis and this is high esteem of goal achievement, only in one month from February- March, records books of 30 million worth were sold. He told that it is a remarkable sign; people took keen interest in purchasing books. MD told the delegation that we have a comprehensive plan of publishing more than 1000 books of interest of people. He said that we are forwarding to achieve the goal of Book Revolution. The delegation took visits of National Book Museum, Book Park, Book Shop, My Book Shelf, Nizami Ganjvi Corner and Readers Club Area. They took interest deeply in all these places and made pictures for memorable moments of their visit of NBF. Mr. Khurshid Yousaf, Senior Program Manager of COMSATS thanked the management and MD of NBF who provided an opportunity to learn and see the way of working of a government functionary in befitting manner. He also lauded the significant achievements of NBF in promotion of book culture in Pakistan particularly under the towering personality of Managing Director, Dr. Inam ul Haq javeid. At the last, the members of delegation exchanged views with each other and extended very useful suggestions in spreading knowledge and literacy through books among people which is very earnest need of the hour. Mr. Murtaza Noor, NBF Book Ambassador Coordinated this visit of COMSATS non-teaching staff. He also expressed his views and said that the Universities always welcome positive role of NBF in book promotion culture among the students, teachers and educationists. He appreciated the NBF efforts in the field of education and spreading literacy throughout the country. Mr. Aftab Soomro, secretary NBF also expressed his views and invited all the book lovers to come forward and work as NBF Book Volunteers.
