PESHAWAR : National Book Foundation (NBF) and district administration Peshawar Tuesday signed an agreement for promotion of the trend of book reading in the people.
Under the agreement, National Book Foundation through its mobile service will provide books to the people on 50% discount. A no objection certificate (NoC) in this regard has already been issued.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony held here in D.C Office. The purpose of the ceremony was the promotion of book reading in the people.
Those who attended were included Deputy Commissioner (D.C) Peshawar, Riaz Khan Mehsud, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Osama Ahmad Warriach, Assistant Commissioner (A.C) Mumtaz Ahmad, all Additional Assistant Commissioners (AACs), Director, NBF, Dr.Murad Ali Mohmand and others.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner, Riaz Khan Mehsud and Director NBF, Dr.Murad Ali Mohmand delivered detailed speeches on not reading of books and bad impacts of the interest of the people in television, internet and other hobbies on the society.
They stressed on all members of the society to their role in attracting people towards book reading. During the ceremony, an agreement was also signed between district administration and NBF, under which the later will hold stalls through its mobile book service across the district and will provide books on 50% discount.
