68th book corner inaugurated at Sindhology
Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abida Taherani on Monday said efforts were being made to make the university a distinguished institution in the region recognised for its global perspective and diverse and supportive learning environment, besides having international reputation in research and creative discovery.
Academic excellence was top priority of her administration, she said, adding that it had provided modern facilities and suitable environment to the teachers and students. She said this while addressing at the inaugural ceremony of the book corner of Dr Qamar Jahan Mirza which has been set up in the research library of the institute of Sindhology, University of Sindh Jamshoro.
With this the total book corners of well-known educationists, politicians, poets, intellectuals and famed personalities established at the research library & the Institute of Sindhology has increased to 68 in number. “The university promotes arts, benefits national economy serves the citizens through public programmes and is dedicated to production of quality human resource for the knowledge-driven development of the country,” Dr Taherani said.
“The act of Dr Qamar regarding donating books to research library will boost the morale of other faculty members too towards this noble cause; this is an example set for teachers in order that they may also donate something for their university”, she said. Well-known Radio announcer Naseer Mirza, In-charge Director Sindhology Professor Saeed Mangi and Professor Khalida Jamali also spoke on the occasion.
